Welcome to the East Alabama West Georgia Local Section website. We are a local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and represent a combined 21 counties throughout the East Alabama and West Georgia regions. Our mission is to provide professional development to chemists within our region through organizational events and collaborative opportunities.

National Chemistry Olympiad 2026

The EAWG local section participated in the National Chemistry Olympiad competition on March 7 and April 19, 2026. Catherine Situma of Auburn University organized and administered the exams to students from Davidson Academy Online, Auburn High School, and Auburn Junior High School.

3rd Annual Research Symposium

The 3rd Annual Local Section Research Symposium (LSRS) was held at Auburn University in Auburn, AL on March 21, 2026. Destination STEM Outreach Event

The local section participated in the National Chemistry Olympiad competition in April.
